Gordo the Tree

We bought our first Christmas tree! I wish you all could have been there when Jimmy almost got in a fist fight with the girl who stole the tree we originally wanted. I had to restrain him and draw his attention away from the action with the most beautiful tree ever made. He was beautiful! So green and full! Jimmy pulled the car around and we strapped it to the top. Once the tree was home and inside, it was obvious that it was not only full but FAT! He took up almost the entire living room. We almost need to move the couches out to make room for the tree skirt! He appropriately earned the name of Gordo.

Twilight.... you are a disappointment!

Don't be sad..... but it turns out that the movie Twilight is the worst movie ever made. Don't freak out Twilight lovers..... I don't mean the story line.... the story line comes from a flawless book written by a genius. But the movie was made by amateurs on a low budget. Now before you start crying and sending me hate mail... just hear me out. Consider any recent popular movie. For instance, The Dark Knight. Even if you don't like the movie you can't deny that the scenes are amazing! And here is the proof... Dark Knight was made on a budget of $185 million and Twilight was made on a budget of $37 million. Hence the poor picture quality, unattractive actors, bad acting, crapy make-up and hair, and super awful special effects! I say let's give it to Warner Brothers and let them redo the first movie!! Great idea!!

Poseidon!

Yesterday was Greek god day for the sixth graders. They had been working on personal narratives and to present them they dressed as the Greek god or goddess that they chose. Some of them went all out.... I may have been one of those. I wish I could put their pictures on here so you can see how cute they were but I think that's against the law. But I can put Laural on here. She was Persephone, princess of the underworld.

Save Pushing Daisies!!

Some of you may not know this but Jimmy and I are not big TV watchers. Our TV only plays movies. We're not even big movie watchers. What I mean by that is that Jimmy, without fail, will fall asleep within 5 minutes of turning on any movie. With that said the ONLY show I watch is called Pushing Daisies. I watch it faithfully every week on my computer. This show is witty, cleaver, quirky, whimsical, wholesome and beautiful. Unfortunately not many people have caught sight of it and it may not come back next season. This would be the greatest tragedy, second only to Obama becoming president. (ha...I'm kind of kidding... kind of) I would strongly encourage you to go onto abc.com to watch a couple episodes. Or if you're looking for something to do on a Friday night, go out and rent the first season. Chances are you will fall in love! Then after you fall in love you should go to this link http://savedaisies.com/ and sign the petition to keep it on the air. I don't know if this will really work, but I like to believe that we can save it. I am signer 40811 and Jimmy is 40813, by the way.Mom, you would love this show. Look at the beautiful garden! And yes, everyone, that woman in red is wearing and eye patch! This show is hilarious!

Home Sweet Home!

It's been so fun getting settle in our Springville home! Jimmy is the best husband ever. He will totally go shopping with me for home decor! We've been having a hard time finding an entry table because they are all too long. We just decided to buy one yesterday and force it into the space. Luckily, it work! The only problem is that the table is brown and I LOVE black! Black is beautiful! But I am willing to accept the brown table if it's the right thing to do. Please take the poll at the right and let me know what you think! Thanks!!

What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico!

We spent a week on the beautiful and relaxing island of Cozumel, Mexico. It was everything you imagine a relaxing island to be. We spend most of our time on the west side of the island which is where our hotel was. The water was very calm since on the other side of the water is the mainland of Mexico. But the day before we left we rented a jeep and drove around to the other side. It was breathtakingly beautiful! The water was such a bright color and the waves were huge. There are only about 3 buildings on that side of the island and no electricity. They say they can't have anything over there because it is too dangerous and the storms are intense. But it was awesome. I would have slept on the beach on the east side if I they would let me.I love this sign. When you walked by people's little stands they would yell things like, "Hey big spender! Prices better than Walmart!" or, "Cheaper than K-Mart!" It was hilarious that they knew to say that!
Cozumel- east side
One of Jimmy's favorite Mexican treats!
Snorkeling was so fun! It took a second to get used to it and then it was just amazing to be right there with the little fishies!
There were several different places to eat at our hotel. Our favorite was eating at these little tables on the sand. Jimmy got his fill of mojitos and we LOVED the guacamaya! I could eat a plate of it right now!

We thought it would be a good idea to go out on one of those little sailing, rafty things into the middle of the ocean when neither one of us had ever driven one before. They're really easy to get out into the middle of the ocean, but really hard to get back. We lived through it though and we're real sailors now!
Beautiful! The resort we stayed at was out of a magazine!
On Wednesday we took the ferry over to Playa del Carmen so we could go on a day trip to Chichen Itza. It was truly amazing. We don't know any of the facts or history behind anything though, since we ditched our tour group the first chance we got. We just COULD NOT sit through all those long explanations! Plus they don't let you climb on anything cool.

Halloween was awesome!

The teachers at my school decided to do a Wizard of Oz theme for Halloween this year. A second grade teacher, Julie A. was Dorothy, Michelle was the house that fell on the witch, Laural was a munchkin, Christie was Glenda the good witch, and of course, I was the Wicked Witch of the West. The role was so effortless for me... it was sad to see the green paint go when I washed my face that night. Many of the other roles were filled by other faculty members.
That evening, we went to the ward Halloween party. Jimmy was Dracula and I was the witch. We definitely stuck out... especially since we had only been to our ward once so people wouldn't have recognized us even if we hadn't been wearing costumes. They were all wondering who the freaks were.
The night ended with a wild party with the Flinstones (the Robbins).

More pictures!!!

I know all you wanted to do today was look at pictures of our wedding so I added some more. These are from our sister-in-law Annie. She takes great photos and was the quickest at getting them to us. Thanks, Annie!

Here comes the bride.....

It's true! The wedding really did happen. People couldn't believe it.... they said it couldn't be done, but we got married. The day was PERFECT! A 3 pm wedding is the way to go! The weather was perfect, the ceremony was beautiful and we had so many wonderful guests! A big thanks to everyone who came! Some people traveled far to be there and we really appreciated it! The reception was beautiful! Jimmy's mom and sister had been planning and buying for months and the whole family showed up to help decorate! Here are some pictures from the "groomals" we took the week before the wedding. We still don't have any pictures from the day of but we'll get some on here asap.

THE COUNTDOWN CHAIN!

So we had a little announcement mishap. The announcement that you will be recieving is from our second attempt. The first one did not turn out well... enough said. As you can imagine, those 500 announcements are taking up valuable space in the computer room; therefore, they needed a new home. So, although they were not worthy of sending, they for sure made the COOLEST countdown chain ever! In case you were wondering there are ONLY 19 links!!!

6 WEEK COUNTDOWN!

We're excited that it's coming so quickly but I feel like there is still so much to do and, with school having started last week, not a lot of time. We just took engagement pictures last Wednesday and you can see a sample picture to the right. It's one of my favorites but not the one we chose for the announcement. You'll have to wait and see it when you get it in the mail.

Art City Citizens

Unlike most couples in Provo, we found searching for a house to be easy. We ended up getting the first place we looked at!... that was after going to one more place and an hour debate so that Jimmy could be sure we were getting a deal. It's a very cute two bedroom house in Springville. It has a cute little yard, two car garage, full basement (come on over visitors!) and great neighbors. We spent hours working on the yard with Jimmy's parents yesterday. They were kind enough to bring down ALL of the equipment and clean up the yard Newton style. Thanks Mom and Dad Newton!! Jimmy will live there until after the wedding in October. And yes, these pictures were taken before the Saturday clean-up.

Update...

Wedding plans are coming along great! The oficial date is October 3rd. It's been a wonderful weekend picking out invitations, finding a place to live, registering for gifts, and practicing our wedding hair-dos. We have many requests for a picture of us and this picture is a top ten favorite.

We're getting MARRIED!!

Some of you have been hearing about it for a while...for some of you this is a huge shock... but it's official, we're getting married! After several weeks of anticipation (which I did not endure patiently, I might add) Jimmy proposed on July 19th! It was so beautiful and I couldn't have planned it better myself! It started in the morning when he brought me breakfast from our favorite breakfast joint, Shirley's. He asked me if I had plans at 11:45 and when I said I was free, he let me know he had booked me an appointment for a massage at Sundance Spa. I found out later that it was just to get rid of me so he could prepare, but that's fine with me. Meanwhile, he was scoping out the perfect location for the proposal. After the massage we went our separate ways to do some chores. When we got back together there was just a note on his door, telling me to go to his desk. When I got there there was a note telling me to go to the school....I think you know where this is going. I also went to Wilson Diamond, where he bought the ring, and to Goodwood, where we had our first date. At each location he had left me a rose, a note and pictures of us. He was at the last location with dinner to go. We got in the car and headed up the canyon. After a bit of off-roading he parked the car and we started off on a little hike. For those of you who are familiar with this area, we were on a trail that was above Squaw Peak and overlooked the valley. Our destination was a mountain top and I was wondering why he had no blanket or anything for me to sit on (I was wearing a white skirt). As we rounded around to the top of the mountatin I saw a beautiful table with chairs (Thanks, Jimmy!), candles, roses, even a table cloth. The only sad part is that we didn't take a picture right at that the moment we got up there...it looked so perfect! But this pictures was taken after we were finished eating. As we were cleaning up he played a song from his phone and started dancing with me. When the song was finished he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Even though I was bawling I was able to get out a "yes." A big "Thanks!" to his sister Ann and her Husband Keith for helping set up and making the evening so perfect!
